Bio: I've been making music since '98, starting out with primitive MIDI software and a second-hand keyboard (with no MIDI!). Since then, my production skills have vastly improved, and I've built up a finely-honed home studio. I've been interested in synthesizers since a young age; I was fascinated by Jean-Michel Jarre's album "Oxygene" when I was four, and was constantly exposed to the amazing theme to Doctor Who. Aside from dabbling with some early VSTs, I didn't actually own a synth until 2002: the K-Station. It has become indispensible, and you could say it defines my sound. I'm a fan of many different instruments and musical styles, and often my obsession with a certain element will be reflected in my work. I like to blend retro and modern electronic styles, but as for genre? -- that depends on my mood.
Gear: My studio is based around an AMD 2500 PC with 1 gig of RAM, running Sonar 2 XL, with Creative Audigy Platinum 2 ZS. I use Fruityloops 3 for building beats and sequencing samples: using various kits and found sounds, a lot of which I record myself. Synths: Novation K-Station analogue modelling synth, Yamaha CS5 and CS01 analogue monosynths. Samplers: Akai S1000, Roland SP-404. I use an Optimus MD-1200 full-size keyboard as a controller, and it has a nice piano sound. I own several vintage rhythm boxes, two Boss drum machines (the DR-220a & DR-220e), a Radioshack dynamic mic, various circuit bent devices, and electronic kids toys. I use VSTs sparingly due to their system-hogging nature, but am partial to Big Tick's Cheeze Machine, the Arturia Minimoog, Feldspar, GMedia M-Tron, MrTramp, and Arptone.
